Aloha!
We had a beautiful trip to Maui. The day after we arrived we honored my Mom with an amazing catamaran sail off the coast of Lahaina. We charted a boat and my cousin Todd Nolan lead the service with a wonderful eulogy about my Mom (his Auntie Kathy). My Dad wanted to share the service with those of you who were interested... but I am having a hard time posting the video to this site. I will keep trying, but it is 30 minutes long, and won't go on YouTube. I can email it to anyone interested. So if you would like to see it, please email me and I will send it to you. In the meantime I will try and post a shorter version of it.
After Todd's eulogy, we laid Mom to rest in a beautiful shell urn adorned with a flower lei. Everyone threw flower petals into the water. One of her great granddaughters asked Todd why we were throwing the petals into the water and he told her to think of them as "hugs and kisses". So she proceeded to grab handfuls of them and throw them into the water. The whole sail was emotional and very memorable! A perfect Aloha!

ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see your post today. It is a beauful picture and I agree with you that God certainly gave you a beautiful day for Kathy's send-off and Whales!! wow. I can imagine the emotions you all must have experienced as you viewed the whales surrounding your boat and escorting Kathy on her journey. Knowing Kathy, I'm sure she had something to do with that..she would have wanted to put a smile on your faces.
You were all in my prayers and on my heart that day. I have wanted to call you but wasn't sure when you might feel up to it. I would love to have you e-mail the video to me.

That sounds like a perfect day for you and Uncle Rick. I'm sure the whales felt the love you guys had for your mom and wanted to be part of it. I would be honored to have you send me the video.

ReplyDeleteYour Maui video was truly breathtaking! It was so great to see you all again at Your house and I hope we continue to keep in touch. I loved the video, think I lost at least 5 Lbs of water crying during the whole video. I am sooo happy it went exactly as it did for you all, what a blessing ...just like her! Love you guys, and hope to see you in May (looks like Todd's won't be heading down till then) and they mentioned Andrew wants to go to Universal studios, hope you can join us!
