Dec 21...11:20pm

Another day has gone by and Mom is still with us.  Today she has been unresponsive.  We continue to have 24 hour hospice nurse care which is a huge help.  They monitor her comfort level and since they are have been through this they can give us great insight into what she is going through.
Her breathing pattern seems a bit labored. But they ensure us she isn't in any pain.  That is what her wishes were...keep me comfortable.
The house is a little quieter tonight with Mike and Joan and Tony gone.  We told Mom she can stop being the hostess now and relax!  We know it is in God's hands.  We will continue to make her comfortable, we will continue to pray for a miracle, and we will continue to wait on His Plan.
Good Night.

  1. Good night Mandy. We love you all and and continue to keep you all in our prayers. Hospice is amazing and though hard to hear the different stages they are in, it is right on and comforting to know she is comfortable. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 -- Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
    Love you and God Bless,

  2. Dear Mandy,
Thank you for your daily updates. I know how difficult this is for you yet you think of all of us and write to us so we can know how our Kathy is doing. I pray you have rest when you can grab it and peace through the night so you can recharge. I am with you and your Dad despite the miles and just wish I could hear your Mom's voice again and feel that great hug only she can deliver. I am amazed at your strength and see what a wonderful woman you are - much like your Mom with all the gentle and loving qualities yet a strength that shines from you.

I will be praying for Rick, your family and you to be surrounded by the peace God promised through these final hours. I love you all.

    Love, Dyanne

  3. Kathy,
It is snowing today in Colorado. When I woke up and saw this beautiful winter scene it brought back memories of our Mom.
When she moved to California in her eighties, almost every morning she awoke and looked outside and she would say... "Another beautiful day".... It didn't matter what the weather was like, sunny and blue skies, gray, cloudy, rainy, or even socked in with fog. She would comment on the beautiful day. She always had a way of looking at things around her with a positiveness. We are so, so blessed that we had a Mom like that.
When I see her again in heaven I want to tell her that those "little things" she did to help us to see this world in a positive light made a huge difference in each of our lives.
Kathy, I am thankful that you are resting and have your loving family around you. Just know that the rest of us are there with you in thoughts and prayers. Hope you can feel our love.
God is providing His never-ending comfort and peace.
Love your sis Linda, and Al too

  4. Auntie Kathy,

It is so comforting to hear that you are at peace and not afraid to pass on and be with Jesus. As a man who is struggling with his faith at the present time and has a tremendous fear of death, you have no idea how reading these blogs have helped me. Your final gift not only to me but to all that know you is your faith and strength. I just hope we all can take a fraction of what you have and apply it to ourselves, because if we do this world will be a much better place for us all. Over the years I have not been very good at keeping in touch with you and Uncle Rick and I a sorry. You both have been a huge inspiration to me. I remember the spring breaks I used to spend with the two of you like it was yesterday and I always will have those memory and I thank you. Please know that I love you and I am greatful for having you (and Uncle Rick) not only in my life but my wife and daughters life as well. I just wish I did a better job of keeping in touch.

Again, love you and we will see each other again!
