Kathy's initial diagnosis

In hopes of keeping our family and friends up to date on this new journey my mom is on, I decided to help out by publishing this blog for her.  As you may know, my mom was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer on February 3, 2011 after finding a small lump in her right breast.  She is under the care of some wonderful doctors at UCSD's Moores Cancer Center now.
This past week she has had numerous tests to determine if she may be a candidate for a new clinical trial (called I-Spy2) that may help in the treatment of this type of breast cancer.  She had an MRI and another biopsy (of both the tumor and the lymphnodes) yesterday and she is feeling fine.  Just a bit sore.
Monday she will have a CT/PET scan and she will also have a bone scan so they can check to see if they cancer has spread to any other parts of her body.
We are anxious to meet with her oncologist on Wednesday (Feb16) when most of these test results will be complete.  He will be able to answer many of our questions and be able to give us his opinion on course of treatment for mom.
This past week mom's bible study group had a lovely prayer/healing session for mom.  And her church pastoral and elder staff will also be praying over her tomorrow (Sunday) after her church service.   There has been a huge prayer support, which is greatly appreciated.  Please continue praying for healing and for a clear decision in her treatment options.
I will continue to post updates and I know my mom will also want to post when she has time also.  But please use this blog as your way to stay updated on her progress.  If you have any additional questions about mom, please don't hesitate to email me at amandaselby@roadrunner.com.
Thank you for your love, prayers and support!
Mandy

  2. My Sweet Friend, I am praying for you. I have been so blessed by knowing Amanda, Bryan, Brayden, Bennett and of course Namma and Grandpa Rick. I look back and see God's hand on placing you all in my life and am filled with much gratitude.

Kathy, you have a speical place in my heart and I am in this with you. I am praying for the Lord's guidance and healing for you. As I want to cry to the Lord, "NO!" I know in my own heart I have to place you in His hands and trust Him completly.

Many will see the Lord's glory in this walk that's before you, praising Him anyway and counting all joy, as I know you will. Wow, only because of Him can you do that!

I Love You, Kathy. Your friend and Sister in Christ,
    Amy
